Creative Aurvana Ace 2 TWS Review (2nd Opinion) – What is Coming is Better Than What is Gone?

Viscerally, these don’t feel like $149 phones (I do see they’re marked down to $80 on Amazon), but ergonomics and comfort are good and I love the charming voice prompts. ANC isn’t very effective; app is basic but useful.

The Aurvana is a classic V-shaped, with considerable emphasis on the pulsing, deep subbass region. I know nothing of the Aurvana’s  xMEMS driver tech, but to my ears, it has all the virtues of planars, most notably extremely fast transients and greater high end extension and detail. Bass, both quantitatively and qualitatively, is a good as you’ll hear on a TWS—taut, speedy and free from bloat. Soundstage is very expansive and instrument placement extremely accurate.

However (there’s always a however) the overall presentation is marred by a slight white noise or haze in the background, which is especially noticeable in ANC mode. This impairs resolution and gives the timbre a less-than-natural hue; comparably priced TWS like the Senn CX400BT or AXS Audio (review here) sound “cleaner” and more open, even as they trail in detail level and soundstage width.

Still not sure if the timbral concerns counterbalance that great bass and impressive driver tech. Definitely a subject for further study.
